1979 Honda CB650Z - January 2013
Picked this up from a Facebook contact, pretty ordinary condition as you can see. I'll see if I can tidy it up somewhat. I'll be doing things like cleaning, painting, polishing, powdercoating, zinc plating the threads and roadworthy stuff etc, but it will not be a full on showroon restoration. Should still come up very nice though. (Bike will be for sale when complete.)
Ok, I have done quite a lot of work before I began this page, in fact the bike is now fully stripped to the ground and I have started to prep parts.
front forks as removed from bike and after new seals and service. Front guard only needed a good cleaning and that's not even polished, I painted the under side.
Front disc centres repainted, they are same as CX500. Many of the small bits ready for re fitting.
Pipes cleaned up the best I could without rechroming, there is a little repair work to be done at the lower end of one of them. Inside the sprocket cover, I can never understand why owners let them get this dirty, it is only a 30 minute job to remove the cover and clean it once a year. I have polished the outer but it needs more, I ran out of buff pad before finishing it. I also cleaned the sump and gave it a quick polish. The cleaning part took MUCH longer.
Lots of cleaning to do on the motor still. frame has a removable section, ah la Bol'dor style, making it easy to drop the motor. Behind the sprocket cover, see above previous notes :). The cat, well her name is RPM, not named that for what you are thinking, I have another cat that is 17 plus years old, on the way out you might say, RPM was a stray that used to steal Splat's (my other cat) food, so I just started feeding RPM. I called her Replacement cause I figured she would one day replace Splat. You should be able to figure the connection from there :).
